Fisher UK has appointed Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity as their chosen charity.
Fisher UK will donate a proportion of the profits from each construction project to the charity, as they really want to support the fantastic work, Rainbow Trust does in supporting families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness.
There are an estimated 86,625* children in England with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. This number has trebled over the last 17 years and is rising. Thousands of families have to face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day to day basis. The Family Support Workers provide a lifeline to these families and children.
Fisher UK appealed to family, friends and employees to nominate charities that are close to their hearts.
After much harrowing and heart-wrenching research, they decided on, Rainbow Trust as they were particularly impressed with the work they do:
When a child has a serious illness, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed.
Rainbow Trust support the whole family including parents, carers, the unwell child, brothers, sisters and grandparents. Support is hugely varied and depends on the needs of the family. It can include:
- Listening to a family’s fears and anxieties
- Helping to explain illnesses, diagnoses and treatments
- Keeping a seriously ill child company during hospital stays
- Driving families to medical appointments to help save time and money
- Organising fun activities to help sick children, their brothers and sisters
- Support through bereavement and grief.
A statement from Gaby Richardson, corporate and community fundraiser at Rainbow Trust says –
“We are very grateful for Fisher UK’s support; they will help us raise important funds for families we support caring for a seriously ill child. All the money raised this year will help them make the most of the precious time they have together.”
Rainbow Trust have appealed for Corporate Partners to help support the work they do and it was this appeal for ‘Heroes’ on their website that prompted Fisher UK Director, Jon Fisher to back the charity.
Fisher UK very much look forward to being able to make a difference to families needing this vital support.
